THE LATE AIDAN KAVANAUGH, O.S.B.: Liturgy as life.

I remember sitting in a cold classroom at St. Meinrad School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana, around 1964, listening to the late Father Aidan try to come down to our level to explain his magnificent worldview, which included liturgy as dynamic communication with the Sacred. I do remember him mentioning the pastor and a fictional character he called “Mrs. Murphy,” who knew more than all the theologians with their lofty theories of liturgical theology. Father Aidan pointed out that Mrs. Murphy and her pastor were collaborators in opening up the mysteries of the sacred because they actually did theology as Jesus intended at the Last Supper.

I have attached an article by a scholar to give you a sense of the depth of Father Aidan’s insights.
